FG Announces Date For Commencement of Student Loan Disbursement

The federal government has unveiled its plans to start giving out student loans from September and October this year. This was made known by David Adejo, the Permanent Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education, who addressed the press in Abuja on Wednesday.

Adejo explained that the government is committed to supporting students in their quest for education by providing them with loans that do not attract any interest. He said that this initiative will help ease the financial difficulties that many students encounter in tertiary education, especially in the wake of the economic downturn caused by the pandemic.

The bill that grants students access to interest-free loans was recently passed by the National Assembly and signed into law by President Bola Tinubu on Monday. Adejo urged eligible students to apply for the loans as soon as possible and assured them of a transparent and fair process.
