Dieter Hecking’s side picked up their second win of the Champions League campaign, sending them to top spot after Manchester United could only draw against CSKA Moscow
Wolfsburg have gone to the top of Champions League Group B after recording a comfortable 2-0 victory over Dutch champions PSV on the same evening that Manchester United dropped points in Moscow.
After being frustrated in the first half,Die Wolfe flew out of the blocks after the restart and when Josuha Guilavogui’s effort was parried away, the prolific Bas Dost was on hand yet again to prod the ball into the back of the net.
Max Kruse then made it two goals in two games as Wolfsburg tightened their grip on the game, glancing a fine header into the far corner after Julian Draxler’s initial long-range effort had been palmed away.
PSV had a chance to get back into the game late on when Diego Benaglio wiped out Jurgen Locadia, but the Swiss goalkeeper made amens for his error by saving the resulting spot-kick as the German side dug in for victory.
